Windmore Events
By Fran Cecere

The mission of Windmore Foundation for the Arts is to promote the visual, literary, and performing arts through awareness, participation, and education. Windmore primarily serves the Virginia counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock.
This is the third year that Windmore Foundation is offering a Summer Musical Theatre Camp at Verdun Adventure Bound located at 17044 Adventure Bound Trail, Rixeyville. The children attending will learn all aspects of theater including auditioning, set design, promotion, producing the performance program, costume design, and more. It is an all day camp for  children ages 5 through
17. This year the play is Seusscial, Jr. by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty based on Dr. Seuss stories.

Both groups will be in the two performances on June 15, at the Verdun Anne Marie Sheridan Amphitheater. The older group will present Seussical, Jr. and the younger group will present excerpts from the Dr. Seuss books.
We plan to accept about 40 children. The cost is $220 for the week for the younger group, and $395 for the two week experience for the older group. To register and for more information visit www.windmorefoundation.org .
Windmore’s Piedmont Community Band will be hosting a Spirit Night at Chick fil A in Culpeper on April 9 from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM. A percentage of the sales will be given to the band to help purchase music, stands, instruments, and other equipment. This will allow them to bring great music to the local community. Please join them for fun and a little music as well.
Windmore’s Pen-to-Paper writers’ group will be presenting a teaching class. The first day of the class is April 16 from 10AM to 12 noon at the Culpeper Baptist Church. During this part of the class they will be instructed about Narration and Perspective, the core of storytelling. The attendees will write a story using the information from the class and return on April 30 from 10AM to 12Noon to share their stories and constructive evaluations of their work. Pre-registration is required. See windmorefoundation.org to register. The cost is $15 for Windmore members or $20 for non-members to be paid on first day of class.
Windmore will be participating in the May 4th Nonprofit Expo and Family Fun Day at Verdun Adventure Bound. The Expo is from 9:30AM to 11:30 AM. The Family Fun Day begins at Noon to 3 PM. Please join us for this free event with games, live entertainment, face painting, outdoor challenges and much more.
