GROUNDWORK PROJECT

The Groundwork Project is a career readiness and leadership development program we offer in partnership with Rappahannock Goodwill Industries (RGI). It is open to youth and young adults in our area at no cost to the participant. We take up to 15 participants at a time once a week for eight weeks.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The participants admitted into the program must have an identified barrier to entering the workplace or graduating from college. These barriers are identified by teachers, counselors, or other qualified professionals. RGI provide staff to teach the participants how to choose a career path or a major, apply for jobs or college, how to network effectively, how to write a resume, how to participate in an interview, etc.

Verdun staff use the rest of the time each day to engage the participants in low and high rope challenges targeting specific skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving. The program has produced some incredible results over the past few years. 2022 is the fifth year of the Groundwork Project. In the first three years of programming 117 of 185 program graduates had acquired gainful employment within 6 months of completing The Groundwork Project.
