

PROJECT SOAR
Project Success in Overcoming Adversity in Recovery (SOAR) is an initiative Verdun Adventure Bound offers at no charge to participants in substance use addiction recovery. Project SOAR is a comprehensive program designed to eliminate the stressors and triggers that could lead to relapse in the critical period following rehabilitation.

In 2025, Project SOAR participants will meet four times during the spring and four times during the fall. Participants will spend 9 am - 3 pm doing activities on Verdun's 67 acre property, or traveling off campus to various locations. We host these sessions twice a year, in the spring and fall, each consisting of four meetups.

Cost: FREE

Transportation available, pick up at SEE Recovery Center at 9 am, drop off at same location at 3 pm

Lunch is provided, but bring a refillable water bottle

Wear closed-toe shoes snd weather appropriate clothing. Bring a change of clothes on ater days!

Learn new life skills such as kayaking, rock climbing, conservation, plant/animal identification, fishing, and more!

Create long lasting relationships with peers in recovery who have a similar mindset for growth

Network with certified peer recovery specialists to overcome the stressors you are facing today

Tuesday, March 25th
Teambuilding / Ropes Course Day
Build trust and work together with a team to overcome challenges both high and low, and push your comfort zone.
Rouse course days will include rock climbing, ziplines. low ropes course, and more!
Tuesday, May 5th
Learn to Paddle Day
At Verdun's very own pond, participants will learn to canoe, kayak, and fish, as well as learn how to safely navigate around the water! Perfect for those interested in running your own river trip in the future, or just being on the water.
Thursday, April 17th
Nature Hike at Leopolds Reservation
Learn about native plants, animals, and the conservation efforts at Leopold's Preserve and explore a historic site with well marked walking and jogging paths.
Thursday, May 26th
Rappahanock River Paddle OR Climbing Day
Depending on the weather, we will either be paddling down the Rappahanock River, or climbing outdoors at Stony Man Cliffs. A perfect opportunity to try out your newly acquired skills!
